Mr. Sunil Kumar

Shri Sunil Kumar is Joint Secretary in Department of Science& Technology (Ministry of Science & Technology) and Surveyor General of India, Head National Geospatial Programme (NGP) and Head National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
He has worked on the development of Geospatial sector policy regime in India and is leading the implementation of National Geospatial Policy in the country. He is also working towards modernization of Survey of India, one of the oldest organizations of the country. Recently, Shri Kumar has been elected as Vice President to the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) for Asia-Pacific region.
Under his leadership Survey of India is executing various national Level projects in Geospatial field such as – High-Resolution Mapping under National Hydrology Project, NamameGange, SVAMITVA Programme and many other High-Resolution Mapping Projects with State Governments.
He has also worked as Joint Secretary, Union Public Service Commission heading the All India Services Division.
He did B-Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kanpur and Masters of Public Affairs from Humphry School, University of Minnesota, USA.
